Kristen Marotte was only eighteen when she lost her father, Eli. In the years that followed, she found him again and again — but only in her dreams, in a quiet, aching search that repeated itself night after night. On the rare occasions she caught sight of him, she would run to him, breathless, and ask the same question: “Where in the World have you been?”

That question never really left her. It became the heart of her Eli stories — a way of holding on to him and of turning grief into something gentle enough to hand to a child. Since losing her father, Kristen has traveled to nearly sixty countries, carrying his memory with her into every one of them. Now, through Eli's adventures, she hopes to pass that same wonder — and that same love for the world — into the hearts of young readers everywhere.
