When considering tourism in Israel, images of religious pilgrimages, ancient cities, and historic landmarks come to mind. But Israel has a multitude of magnificent beach destinations to take your holiday to a whole new level.
The country has a long Mediterranean coastline but also borders sections of the Red Sea and the Dead Sea. The beaches and areas around the coast of Israel offer unique experiences and unmatched beauty and beach tourism in Israel is one of the latest hot topics on the tourism scene. Read on to learn about the most affordable beach vacation packages.
Several countries enjoy visa-free entry to Israel including most of North America, Europe, South Africa, Brazil, and Argentina. Many African and Asian nations require a visa in advance and some can enjoy a simplified visa application. The Israel tourist visa requirements include proof of your hotel reservation, an invitation letter in Hebrew, work approval, and a detailed itinerary. The B2 visa allows you to stay in Israel for up to 3 months for tourism.
Israel has more than 300 km of pristine Mediterranean coastline. Haifa, the country’s 3rd largest city, is one of the most popular beach destinations on this side. Dado Beach and Bat Galim Beach are some of the most popular spots to relax, catch some rays, and enjoy a swim. The city also has marvelous historic attractions like Baha'i Gardens and the Stella Maris Monastery but the beaches are reason enough to visit.
Tel Aviv also has its fair share of popular beaches and Gordon Beach, Frishman Beach, and Banana Beach are all pulsating with life. You can choose from bustling family-friendly beaches to surf hotspots and everything in between. Not to mention, you will be right in the center of the action in Tel Aviv and have a whole host of activities at your fingertips.
For more of a tranquil experience, head to Netanya just north of Tel Aviv. It is often overlooked by tourists, but it has some of the most beautiful beaches in the country. Some of the most popular beaches in Netanya include Poleg Beach, Sironit Beach, and Herzl Beach. Poleg Beach is a long, sandy beach that is perfect for families, while Sironit Beach is a quieter beach that is popular with locals. Herzl Beach is a great place to go windsurfing or kitesurfing. Netanya is a great destination for those looking for a quieter, more relaxed beach vacation.
The Red Sea coast of Israel might only be 12km long but it packs a punch. Eilat is the only settlement on the south coast of Israel, but there is plenty to do in this area. It is known for its stunning coral reefs and crystal-clear waters, making it a popular destination for snorkeling and scuba diving. The city has more than a few beautiful beaches, such as Coral Beach, Dolphin Reef Beach, and Princess Beach, each promising clean sand and clear water. Coral Beach is a protected nature reserve and is one of the best places in the world to go snorkeling. Dolphin Reef Beach is a unique beach where visitors can swim with dolphins. Princess Beach is a family-friendly beach that is perfect for swimming and sunbathing.
One of the most unique things to do is to visit the Underwater Observatory Park next to Coral Beach. Here you can submerge yourself 6 meters underwater to see a thriving Red Sea reef from behind a glass observation area.
The easiest way to visit the Dead Sea in Israel is with a day trip from Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. A large section of the Dead Sea lies within the West Bank and some of the best beaches are not near settlements. These are not your typical beach destinations but they remain immensely popular tourist attractions. The high salt content of the Dead Sea gives the water many healing benefits and people travel from far and wide to float in this natural spa.
The salt crystal formations along the coast are also a magnificent sight, contrasting the bright blue water of the sea. There are several beaches along the shores of the Dead Sea, such as Ein Gedi Beach and Neve Midbar Beach. These beaches offer visitors a chance to relax and soak up the sun while enjoying the therapeutic benefits of the mineral-rich mud found in the area. The beaches by the Dead Sea in Israel offer a one-of-a-kind beach experience that should not be missed.
From June to September, temperatures can reach up to 35°C and you are signing up for long, hot, and dry days.
