Visiting Loutraki Greece
Relaxing on Beautiful Beaches Loutraki Greece
Don't miss Loutraki, Greece! This cool town sits on the amazing Corinthian Riviera, on the mainland of Greece, just 81 kilometers (about 50 miles) west of Athens. It's a popular spot for tourists because of its beaches, hot springs (called “thermal spas” there), delicious food, and sightseeing. Back in the day, there was an ancient town here called Thermae, which actually means “hot springs” in Greek! No wonder they built a famous spa there – those hot springs have been known for their relaxing and healing powers for ages. So yeah, Loutraki is a must-visit for any traveler looking for a fun Greek getaway!
Loutraki's story is fascinating! The town boomed thanks to its famous hot springs, which is no surprise – “Loutraki” actually means “bath-house” or “spa” in Greek! Back in 1928, an earthquake hit Loutraki pretty hard, but the town showed its resilience and was completely rebuilt. They even used the rubble from the destroyed buildings to create a big park – a cool way to turn something bad into something beautiful. Loutraki is especially popular with Greek tourists, and with its closeness to Athens, it's the perfect spot for a quick weekend escape.
Events and Festivals in Loutraki Greece
The town is home to several festivals throughout the year including an annual carnival starting every spring at the beginning of the Pre-Leneon Season and ending on Clean Monday. The city celebrates with live music, great food and special events. There is a grand parade, a treasure hunt and magnificent fireworks and on Clean Monday, there are special foods prepared along with kite flying. Another festival, honoring the Virgin Mary, takes place on September 8th and continues for three days with traditional folk music and an open-air bazaar. The local bazaar offers food, drinks and activities for children and gifts.
Things to Do
You hit the nail on the head! Loutraki is like a total vacation dream come true. Beaches? Check. History? Check. Super relaxing hot springs that people have been raving about for centuries? You betcha! Those indoor spa experiences sound like the ultimate way to chill on vacay. But Loutraki isn't all about lounging. It's got a wild side too! The Geraneia Mountains with a whopping 950 different plant types sound incredible. Hiking trails, biking paths, picnic spots – outdoor lovers are gonna be stoked! Loutraki seems like it's got the perfect combo of relaxation and adventuring – all in one awesome spot!
The gorgeous Vouliagmeni Lake and the Corinth Canal offer breathtaking views. Often bungee jumping is available at the Corinth Canal. The city has activities for everyone, from nature bike rides to swimming to boating including a nearby waterpark. A variety of watersports, fishing and diving are also popular choices. Near the Corinth Canal is the ancient Diolkos which is a paved pathway on which ships were passed from the Corinthian Gulf to the Saronic Gulf.
There are several museums and cultural centers including the ruins of the ancient city of Corinth are nearby to explore. As with many Greek towns, you will find churches, ancient temples and monasteries to visit. Even eating out is a culinary adventure. Be sure to try some traditional Greek dishes such as saganaki or seasonal vegetable stews. We visited the Kalielaion Oil Press where the owner welcomed us and showed us exactly what he does. We tried many of the local olive oils wines, cheeses and fresh seafood as one should when visiting the Mediterranean.
Tip: Ask around for the best tavernas, the locals always know the best spots.
That sounds like a fantastic way to end the day in Loutraki! Visiting a traditional Loukoumi candy maker must have been a really cool experience. Loukoumi, sometimes called Turkish Delight, is such a unique candy – seeing it being made and getting that sweet aroma must have been a real treat for the senses. It's always fun to experience new things on vacation, especially when it involves delicious treats! Did you get to try some fresh Loukoumi?
Where to stay
Loutraki also has the first casino built in Greece, which was built in the late 1920s. The city is still well known for its casino, which is one of the largest in Europe. 5-star Hotel & Casino Resort, Club Hotel Casino Loutraki was built in 1995 and features 255 rooms, 18 suites, two maisonettes plus a conference center. The casino offers a luxurious gaming room area of 5.000sq.m. on 2 levels, equipped with 82 tables, 714 Slot Machines, 35 terminals electrical roulettes and two separate rooms for VIP clients, the VIP room and the VVIP-Tholos.

Where to eat
Lido fish tavern Loutraki sounds delightful! It's interesting that it sits right on Vouliagmeni Lake – that must be a beautiful spot to relax and take a swim. The fresh seafood you enjoyed sounds amazing – grilled and fried fish, calamari, grilled octopus, all sounds so fresh and delicious, especially with a traditional Greek salad on the side. For a more modern take on Greek cuisine, it seems like Paladar Eatery & Lounge hits the spot. Creative and tasty dishes with a wide wine list and beautiful decor – sounds like a perfect place for a special night out.

So blessed to see this post on Loutraki GREECE. over 26 years ago, I had the blessing to be able to heal and recuperate from a severe case of Pancreatitis, by being in Loutraki. I may never have lived, truthfully, the doctors said, without having had the opp to drink the Loutraki mineral waters daily and have the water therapy they offer for health and illness there. It was a slow recovery, but prayer and Loutraki mineral waters and therapy are the reason I am here today! Was finally able to be well enough to travel back to states. I am forever indebted to that little spot of wonderful water therapy! Have never seen an article like yours about the place. You did a great job!
Thanks so much for reading and sharing your thoughts. I truly believe that about the water. It was amazing. I hope to travel back to Loutraki one day.
