Giving to others and giving back feels great. This is something that we have done for years. My husband and I agreed that at an early age, we should do what we can to make certain that we teach our children about the value of giving back.
For years, we have done many things with our children during the holiday season to help teach the about the importance of giving back. We have:
- packed cans and boxes of food at our local food bank.
- volunteered to serve food on holidays.
- collected cans and clothing to give to needy families.
- written letters to those who might not be seeing family during the holidays.
- made cards for soldiers overseas.
There are other things that we have done as well but at the heart of everything that we do, we make certain that our kids understand what we are doing and why we are doing it.

We all know that giving to others feels great, whether you’re donating to a nonprofit, volunteering at a food bank or doing something nice for a loved one. That is so awesome you teach your children giving back is important. Your children will grow and some day teach that to their children so by doing so you have passed down something very important for probably generations to come. I wish everyone took the time to day that with their children. It’s good to here that a large corporation such as Capital One is also giving back. I’m curious to see what they end up doing.
