A little over two years ago, I started this blog. I had always been a writer. I have written for print for years. Some writing in magazines. Some writing in newspapers.
I also spent years in marketing and public relations which always required a ton of writing. Press releases, bios and more. Writing has always been a part of my life in some shape or form.
But when I started The Divine Miss Mommy, I had been writing on a few review sites and someone suggested to me that I should start my own blog. At this time, I was a regular writer to a parenting magazine and the majority of my articles were on their online blog.
I was intrigued with the idea of starting my own blog but also a little overwhelmed. It seemed as if it would be fun but a lot of work. I didn't know how to do any of the design or coding work. I had no clue how to create a header but I had a vision.
I had already purchased my domain and let my daughter name my blog. I then did what any normal person would do (not really), I went to a blog conference. Yep, that's right before I started a blog, I went to Blissdom to see what bloggers were like. To learn more about the basics.
So to help with this vision, I went to small businesses, local businesses. A friend from high school did all of my design work and got the blog started. He was patient, asked questions and really brought my vision to life. In fact, I couldn't have done it better myself. It was perfect and exactly what I wanted.
From Day 1, I have aspired to run this blog like a business. I consider myself an entrepreneur. I have started several businesses since this one and take part in many online ventures but The Divine Miss Mommy is really what launched me into the world of blogging. It is the reason that I am where I am at today. It is a lot of work but it also is a lot of fun!

Intuit is helping small businesses achieve their dreams by awarding $25,000 each month to a local business! Note – votes are like raffle tickets – the more votes a business has the more chances they have to win.
