Who knew that Grand Bahama Island would have so many fabulous places to eat? Honestly, there were more restaurants that I wanted to visit, but just ran out of time. I've included a few of those here because they came to me highly recommended by locals (always my trusted source on where to eat). Most of the restaurants listed are in Freeport or Port Lucaya which are in close proximity to the resorts and airport.
I was surprised to find a Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut, Subway & Wendy's on the island. I've heard that the KFC on Grand Bahama Island is better than the KFC in the states, but wasn't able to verify that fact. However, when I'm traveling I prefer to find restaurants that are local to the area. On this trip I had everything from fine to casual dining. It was all good. I don't think I had a bad meal during my entire stay. Here are my recommendations, in no particular order:
Sabor Restaurant (Pelican Bay Hotel): Located at Pelican Bay Hotel in Port Lucayan it offers outdoor dining at its finest. Gourmet food with a latin fusion.Season menu in addition to regular menu. Lobster was wonderful. For a special or romantic evening be sure to request the beautiful dock dining. It's just an additional $25 fee and you can use the private dock for the day.
Teasers Tiki Bar (Old Bahama Bay Resort-West End): Located on the West End of the island at Old Bahama Bay. The Tiki Bar is located between the pool and ocean for fabulous veiws regardless of where you look. Offering the best Conch fritters on the island (in my opinion).
Flying Fish Restaurant (Lucaya): Located in Lucaya between Pelican Bay Hotel & Grand Lucayan Resort. Modern seafood service rated the #1 restaurant in The Bahamas on Trip Advisor. Food is ordered by 1st, 2nd and 3rd course. All the desserts are wonderful (just a note: I would avoid the white mousse). Waterside dining open for lunch and dinner. Reservations required.
Tony Macaroni's Conch Experience (Smiths Point):For a taste of the local beach scene, find the thatch-roofed shack at Taino Beach and get your fill of Roast Conch, the specialty of the “house.” The popular eatery also sells Conch salad, Conch Burgers, Roast Lobster and Shrimp, and Gully Wash cocktails!
Red Beard's Pub (Freeport): If you're looking for a great night out be sure to check out the biggest sports bar on island. It's relaxed atmosphere and fabulous food will ensure you have a great time. Perfect for families or hanging out with friends. Large outdoor patio so you can enjoy the fabulous weather as well. They open each day at 4p.m. and close when the last customer leaves. Daily happy hour specials include 1/2 priced drinks and appetizers.
Coffee on the Bay (West End): Known for their tropical salad with conch. Located right across from the ocean for great views while eating.
Zorba's (Port Lucaya): Greek, Bahamian and American cuisine. They have falafel which makes me very happy. The menu is very extensive and you'll be able to find something for everyone on the menu.
China Beach Restaurant (Grand Lucayan Resort): Tour the pacific rim without ever leaving the Bahamas. The menu is inspired by vietnam, thailand, korea, indonesia, and malaysia flavors. So many great dishes to choose from. Portions are large so find a friend willing to share.

Those sound like great places to eat. The food looks amazing. Food is one of my favorite parts of travel.
I have never been to Grand Bahama Island. When I do go, this would be great to experience. I would love to go here for a little vacation.
These all look like great options. I would love to visit Grand Bahama Island with the family.
These all sound like great places to eat. I also enjoy trying new restaurants when I travel instead of sticking to chains.
These all look great! I would love to try Tony Macaroni’s Conch Experience. Their conch burger sounds good! I might have to give KFC a try too just to see if it is better than in the states.
I have always wanted to visit the Grand Bahama Island. Those conch fritters looks divine!
Beautiful island to go to and it’s so nice that there are plenty of restaurants to try there! I love that aside from the local restaurants there are fast food chains that we’re used to, in case the kids look for something more familiar.
Well, that’s pretty amazing! One of the things that I love trying out when on vacation is the food. I think it’s awesome that you shared these restaurants that are worth trying.
I can only imagine what the fresh seafood in the Bahamas tastes like. Oh and I’d definitely order Greek food too if I was there.
We are actually heading there next summer. Thank you for the rundown on these eateries. We’ll be sure to check a few of them out on our stay.
There are so many amazing options. We often travel as a family, so options are key. We all will live the amazing views.
Thanks for the tips on where to eat in the Grand Bahama Islands. I’ve never been there but I sure wish I could. The food looks fantastic!
Thanks for the foodie review. The Bahamas got hit by Irma I heard so hopefully I will get to visit after they are fully able to rebuild there.
I will make sure I get to dine in these places if I get the chance to visit the Grand Bahama Island. That would be so awesome!
This is an amazing guide! The Bahamas are so much fun for all – I recognize some of these amazing places! Yum! I can’t wait to go back!
