Did you know that 3 out of 4 carseats are not installed as they should be, keeping the children who use them from being as safe and secure as possible?
NHTSA's (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) Child Passenger Safety Week, which kicks off on Saturday, September 12th with “Seat Check Saturday” is your chance to reach out to other parents and help save lives!
This Saturday, September 12th is “Seat Check Saturday,” and NHTSA is asking all parents using a child safety seat to have their installation checked at one of the centers available across the country.
I had the opportunity to listen to a conference call with a few representatives from the NHTSA and learned some valuable information for parents about their children's carseats. For instance, do you know about LATCH?
Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH)
LATCH consists of lower attachments on child seats and a set of tether anchors in the vehicle to hold the child seat in place without the use of the vehicle's seat belts. Click HERE for additional information.
You can do something. Find an Inspection Station tomorrow and have your seats checked. Locate one here.
Read up about Child Passenger Safety. There is so much valuable information on the NHTSA's website. You can also follow them on Twitter and on Facebook.
