I have always loved gumdrops since I was a kid. I still do! My favorite were those insanely delicious Brach's Mandarin Orange Slices gumdrops which you used to be able to buy individually in some grocery stores like penny candy. Who remembers that? That was my first official foray into all things gumdrops. My sister and I used to beg our mother to let us get a few pieces of candy and those orange slice gumdrops were always my top pick. Red Heart Gumdrops Ingredients

• • 1 1/2 cups applesauce
  • 2 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 boxes (3 oz) strawberry Jello
  • 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin

How to Make Red Heart Gumdrop 

1. Spray 9 x 13 pan with non-stick spray.
2. Combine all ingredients in a pan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil for a minute.
3. Pour into sprayed pan and refrigerate until set.
4. Dust cutting board with sugar.Use a spatula to loosen sides and turn out onto cutting board.
5. Dust top of Jello with sugar. Use heart shaped cookie cutter to cut out gum drops.
6. Roll edges in extra sugar and set onto wax paper for 1 hour to dry out slightly.
7. Store in an airtight container.

This gumdrop recipe is absolutely delicious and can be modified in lots of ways for holidays other than Valentine's Day.
