Tips for Taking Care of Hardwood Floors
Tips for Taking Care of Hardwood Floors
If you are to walk through my house, you will see a lot of hardwood flooring throughout. It has taken me many years to learn how to take care of my hardwood floors like they’re meant to be. Make sure your hardwood floors stay looking awesome with these tips.
1. Be aware of what’s on your shoes
If you have kids in baseball or any other extracurricular activity with special shoes, you must be aware. You don’t want them walking on your hardwood floors with those shoes. Trust me, I have learned the hard way.
2. Don’t use oil soaps on your floors.
This is also a lesson that I have learned the hard way. The oil soaps can have long lasting effects on your floors. It’s amazing what oil soaps can do to your floors without you realizing. I just try and avoid it at all costs. For your info, using a non-wax wood floor cleaner is always best. Wax can build up and do ugly things to your hardwood floors.
3. Don’t forget about the doormats.
It’s amazing what people can drag through your house before they wipe off their feet. I like to put several doormats in the front and back of the house. Getting all the gunk off the shoes before coming in is important.
4. Invest in good flooring.
Something I have noticed about hardwood floors is that they are not all created equal. Investing in good hardwoods floors can help them last a long time. I mean, the floors in your home are put to the ultimate test daily. Whether you’re looking for hardwood flooring, laminate flooring, or carpet, Sears has you covered. I’m looking at getting carpet for a few of our rooms, so Sears has been a great way for us to get what we need at an awesome price.

We just put laminate floors down in our home. I have had to figure out how to keep them clean. We are also about to move to an apartment that has faux hardwood in the entire unit. I really wish that I had hardwood floors. It’s something about them that brings style to any room. I have carpet and tile and they’re a pain to keep clean.

I honestly didn’t know about not using the soaps on your floors. Something I will stop doing, I feel like I am ruining my pretty floors! These are fabulous tips .:)
Our apartment came with old hardwood floors that the landlord was supposed to fix up before we moved in but he didn’t, I am not super happy with them and my next house project I want to tackle is replacing them. Seems like the prior tenants didn’t care for them very well which is such a shame as they are a solid and very quality wood.
I would love to have wood floors. Maybe when we buy a house!
