Meet the characters in STORKS the Movie #STORKS
I am such a huge fan of animated movies. My kids love them just as much as I do and we pretty much see everything animated as soon as it hits the theater. With STORKS coming out this week, my kids have already had me order the tickets on Fandango so we can see the movie on Friday. I am so excited for you to meet the characters in STORKS the Movie.
About STORKS
Storks deliver babies…or at least they used to. Now they deliver packages for global internet giant Cornerstore. Junior, the company’s top delivery stork, is about to be promoted when he accidentally activates the Baby Making Machine, producing an adorable and wholly unauthorized baby girl. Desperate to deliver this bundle of trouble before the boss gets wise, Junior and his friend Tulip, the only human on Stork Mountain, race to make their first-ever baby drop – in a wild and revealing journey that could make more than one family whole and restore the storks’ true mission in the world.
Advanced screening of STORKS in LA
We were so excited to attend an advanced screening of storks a few weeks ago in LA. The fabulous Romy from Romy Raves covered the event for Divine Lifestyle and the pictures look absolutely amazing. They had the opportunity to interview many of the movie's characters as well as the directors, writer and producers. So Meet the characters in STORKS the Movie #STORKS.
The Characters of STORKS
We loved getting to know the actors plus directors/writer/producer behind the STORKS characters and during the interviews, we were invited to ask any questions. The interviews were so fun and you could truly see the passion behind this fabulous animated movie.
“Because I think you can also acknowledge that the metaphor is loving and I guess you'd call it supernatural in a weird way, like the creative imagination to say the purpose of these beautiful birds is to bring love into your life. I thought what a great thing that the creative minds have been capable of throughout our cultural and historical evolution” ~ Kelsey Grammer
“Playing a character like this, who just wants to become powerful and is looking up to his character the whole movie, so trying to achieve that greatness and will do absolutely anything to get it, those are really fun characters to play, because you're not just playing like, “I'm an evil villain.” Like, you're playing a character that has goals and wants” ~ Stephen Kramer Glickman
“The rhythm of the animation is often the actual found audio that we were doing in real time. Obviously they'll tighten it and trim stuff, but there's a lot of overlapping and there's such a specific dynamic between Junior and Tulip.” ~ Andy Samberg
“I got to have very full-bodied hair, which was nice for me because my hair isn't usually very full…But it's very exciting. It's very surreal, seeing something that has your voice that does not look like you, and yet it becomes it's own separate thing. But it's still you a little bit, and you're like, “Oh, I helped a little bit there.” ~ Katie Crown
“One of the hardest things about animation is to get a spontaneous vocal performance, because everything's done in isolation because everybody wants perfect sound every step along the way.” ~ Producer Brad Lewis
“It's almost more important in the emotional scenes to do improv because it keeps actors a little bit off their game and it makes those scenes more kind of awkward and real, which then makes them more emotional. And I really wanted to bring that into animation, and Brad and Doug were game for that. And so, very early on we cast scratch actors that were comedic talent, you know, improv people and improv'ed the scenes. And actually, Katie Crown was [the voice to Tulip] originally a scratch actor for the movie.” ~ Writer/Director Nicholas Stoller
“And you're storytelling with color to some extent…Cornerstore is going to have a certain palette that's going to be more subdued. And then, the parts of the story that represent connection are just brighter. And so, the baby's hair is pink. Tulip is a redhead. And there's just more color that kind of bursts out of the movie at the end.” ~ Director Doug Sweetland
