National Get Outdoors Day with OFF!
The outdoors….makes me happy! What about you? My entire family loves being outdoors. We camp, ride bikes, play, swim, hike and do so much more. All of it outside! It is hot and sunny...
I have mentioned several times how much my family and I love Six Flags Over Georgia. We have been going regularly since the kids were old enough to enjoy the rides but my husband and I had been visiting the park long before that.
This year we absolutely cannot wait for the all-new Hurricane Harbor that will be opening in late May 2014.
Six Flags Over Georgia will introduce a brand new multi-million dollar expansion and add a new in-park water park. This new area, known as Hurricane Harbor, is the largest expansion in the park’s 46-year history, and will feature several water attractions and guest amenities, including thrill slides and relaxing family fun. By adding an all-new water park, Six Flags Over Georgia will transport guests to a tropical paradise, full of wave pools, slippery slides, interactive playgrounds, and fun in the sun.
Sprawling across the landscape formerly occupied by Southern Star Amphitheater, the new water park will be themed around and invoke a remote Caribbean getaway. Lush tropical landscaping, beach scenery, and retail and dining locations will all provide the wonderful feeling of a warm beach paradise.
The mainstay of the park will be Hurricane Bay which is a 38,000-square-foot, 800,000 gallon wave pool that simulates the feeling of ocean surf with a state-of-the-art wave system that produces waves up to four feet high.
The park will also feature Tsunami Surge, a dual-slide complex that drops riders down an enclosed five-story drop and whirls them around a 40-foot-wide bowl, followed by a zero-gravity plunge out the bottom.
Bonzai Pipelines is another multi-slide complex that challenges bold adventurers to soar through winding curves, dark tunnels, and swirling bowls. Paradise Island will be a children’s activity area of the water park, with an interactive water playground featuring miniature slides, drenching towers, and hundreds of interactive water elements.
Paradise Island is a re-designed interactive water play area for children. At the former Skull Island turned Paradise Island kids will enjoy mini-slides, drenching towers, tipping buckets, climbing nets plus a kid-sized wave pool as well as many other water features.
Admission to the water park will be free with general park admission or a Season Passes so you can enjoy two great destinations for one price. The all-new Hurricane Harbor will complement the neighboring water park, White Water, and will be located near The Great American Scream Machine.
Hurricane Harbor debuted in May 2014.
What to bring to Six Flags

Six Flags is awesome, isn’t it? I took my boys to Six Flags New England last summer for the first time and we had such a blast that I can’t wait to get back there this summer.
We have the water park at the Fiesta Texas Six Flags and it is a life saver in the summer.
I haven’t been to Six Flags, but I really want to! Atlanta is the closest one to my home.
I love this add on, but I’m unsure of why they don’t market White Water more. After the bought it, it seems that the E-Coli breakouts finally got to them. Since we’re so close, we’ll certainly try the new park this summer!
That looks like lots of fun for the hot weather. We have a Six Flags in NJ – but they don’t have anything like this. Now that my kids are getting a little older we can start taking them to amusement parks like this.
I cannot even remember the last time I have been to a Six Flags park! This looks amazing though. There is nothing better than going to a water park when its 90+ degrees outside. My family would have a ball here.
Can’t wait for water park season! Winter has been too long this year.
I haven’t been to Six Flags in so long. We always go to Dollywood because it’s closer. Your post make me want to visit again very soon.
Oh my goodness this looks like it would be FUN!! I think we have one near us. I will have to check!
That looks like such a fun water park! I haven’t been to Six Flags in years but I’m sure I’ll take my daughter one day.
Oh how wonderful! Who doesn’t love a good water park, this is the perfect addition! I’ve never been to this particular park, I’d love to make it there. This is another great reason for a road trip!
This new water park looks like a lot of fun. It’s another great reason to make it over to Six Flags.
That reminds me very much of what I believe the Six Flags here in Jersey has. It’s a big hit from what I understand.
That looks like an awesome place to spend a hot day and cool off and have fun!
Looks like so much fun! My kids and I went to the one in San Antonio a few years ago! Super fun!

This is the perfect getaway during this hot summer! All those waters only make me want to go swimming. 🙂

I have never been to Six Flags before. But we love amusement parks so we need to make sure it happens!
Awesome! Our Six Flags Magic Mountain here in California has a Hurricane Harbor. It’s been years since I have gone, but I’m really anxious to take the kids this summer. I know they’ll have a blast!
