Keurig has created a line of coffee makers that have revolutionized the way the average person prepares coffee. As a standard with all of their products, a single serve cup is inserted into the top of the machine and a cup of coffee is brewed in a matter of seconds. What makes this particular product unique is the ease of customization.
With the earliest models you could merely select one of three sizes to brew: essentially small, medium, or large. The Keurig K75 Single-Cup Home-Brewing System has expanded this to a choice of five sizes ranging from four to twelve ounces in increments of two. This is to accommodate those with unique mug sizes or travel cups. You now also have the option to set your favorite cup size to bypass the selection process making your coffee ready even faster.
The Keurig K75 Single-Cup Home-Brewing System comes with a removable reservoir that holds up to 72 ounces of water, enough to last for days of use for a single person. It takes about four minutes to heat the water to be ready for brewing. However, once turned on, the water stays heated until it is turned off again.
Besides the choice of size, there are many other options that allow for personal customization. The auto on/off setting allows you to have the Keurig automatically turn on or off at certain points throughout the day. Since most people only drink coffee in the morning this is a great feature for saving electricity while still having the machine ready for you to use before heading out for the day. And because you can set multiple times for it to turn on throughout the day, you can have it ready to brew your favorite cup of tea at night.
An adjustable temperature control lets you choose how hot your drink is ranging from 187 to 192 degrees Fahrenheit. You can also brew iced coffee or tea by filling your cup with ice cubes. Although there are specially produces K-Cups designed for this, it will work with most any flavor.
Because the Keurig allows for only one cup at a time, you can purchase a wide variety of blends to use in small packages rather than buying large bags of coffee beans. Included with the K75 Platinum is a variety pack of 12 K-Cups for you to try. This is ideal for those of us who like to try new things every once in a while or for those who like to host, giving them the ability to provide a range of options to their guests.
Cleaning and maintenance of all Keurigs is made easy with step by step instructions included in the manual. It takes about twenty minutes to clean the machine and it is recommended that this is done once every couple of weeks. The cleaning materials are simply water and vinegar, so no other special products need to be purchased.
At initial set up, once the machine is filled with water, it will take approximately 4-minutes for the water will be heated. During the heating period the red light next to HEATING on the LED Control Center will become illuminated. Once the water is heated, the red light will turn off and the Small Mug Button will flash. Press the Small Mug Button to start a cleansing brew. Pour the hot water into the sink. The Brewer may take 15 seconds to reheat water between brews during which time the red light next to HEATING on the LED Control Center may be illuminated. When the water has heated, the red light will turn off. The one-time set-up process is now complete and you are ready to brew.
