Making Thanksgiving Easy on Everyone
Thanksgiving day can become very stressful, especially when you are taking care of everything by yourself. It is important to include your family in on all aspects of the day. This includes getting help...
The fall season brings great weather, beautiful colors, Halloween and Thanksgiving. Decorating your yard for this fun time of year is a natural thing to do. There are many ways that you can make your yard both festive and inviting. You can use a variety of tips to ensure that your yard is the envy of the neighborhood.
Nothing says fall like pumpkins. You can place a variety of pumpkins throughout your yard to usher in the fall season. It is popular to put them near your front porch or front stoop, by the entry into your yard and near trees. You can also choose to line your walkway with pumpkins of varying sizes. You can choose to use real pumpkins, or many big box stores and craft stores have pumpkins that are meant for outdoor decorating and will hold up in all types of weather.
You can use fall corn to accentuate different things in your yard. For example, you can hang a corn garland along a fence or porch railing. This will add some additional color to your yard. These come in a large variety of colors from red to purple to yellow, so you are sure to find the perfect one to complement your décor or scheme.
Many people rake their leaves during the fall season, but there is no rule saying that you have to. Letting the leaves stay on the grass can give your yard a big burst of color. You can also choose to rake them into piles and then leave the piles in place for a little neatness. Place pumpkins or hay with the piles of leaves to help keep them in place and to create a small fall scene.
A big wreath on your front door is a great way to make your home stand out. You can incorporate things like pine cones, foliage, corn and other fall elements. You can make your own if you have some spare time and crafting ability, or simply buy one from the store that fits your personality.
Nothing says fall like orange and yellow. You can find light bulbs and outdoor lights that glow orange and yellow. These will give your yard plenty of color at night and can help to accentuate your other decorations after the sun goes down. You may also choose to put a spotlight on a large tree that is full of colorful leaves.
I decorate with pumpkins all over. I also like using pinecones and acorns. I never thought about adding colored lighting, that may be fun on my porch!
