Let it Go with Disney FROZEN
Disney’s upcoming release FROZEN provides a thrill for all ages, from the stunning scenery that will captivate adults in the audience to the adorable animated snowman sure to please toddlers, to sibling squabbles teen girls will relate to easily to a rugged guy and his relationship with his best friend, a reindeer, which will leave even the guys watching the movie laughing from the gut.During a recent press trip to LA on behalf of Disney, I was given a chance to watch portions of the movie while it was in production. That was a thrill in and of itself, hearing from Jennifer Lee, one of the directors (the other is Chris Buck), who explained back in early August that there were 400 people working feverishly to finish the movie in under two months! It’s set for release in theaters on November 27. We hope that you love this Let it Go with Disney FROZEN post.
About Disney FROZEN
FROZEN is inspired by the Hans Christian Anderson story ‘Snow Queen’ and features songs by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who also worked on the Broadway hit ‘Book of Mormon’. Did I mention it is from the creators of Tangled and Wreck it Ralph? Yeah. That, too. It stars Kristen Bell (the voice of Anna), Josh Gad (Olaf), Jonathan Groff (voice of Kristoff)and Idina Menzel (the voice of Elsa, the Snow Queen).
The movie is really all about the relationship between sisters, but has a twist of adventure that makes it full of chilly fun. In the movie, Anna teams up with Kristoff and his reindeer friend Sven for an epic journey that includes Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snomwan named Olaf (who I believe steals the show). They’re trying to get to Anna’s sister Elsa, whose icy powers accidentally (or angrily, depending on your perspective) doomed their kingdom to an eternal winter.
Guide to all things FROZEN II
Disney sent its animation team to Wyoming to study true conditions in the snow, and Lee says even the men put on dresses to feel what it would be like to walk in the snow with gowns. They also went to an ice hotel to see how color plays with ice. And the art team went to Norway to look at fjords and make certain their attention to detail was accurate. There’s no doubt this inspired the stunning look of the film.
In the movie, Elsa is staying away from Anna out of fear that she might hurt her with her power to turn what she touches to ice, but Anna doesn’t realize this and feels her sister’s frigid behavior is due to selfishness and lack of love. There’s a love story in the movie, too, with a twist of an ending that I don’t want to spoil for you.
In the end, only an act of love can save Anna’s heart from freezing and the bond of family is going to have to beat out the bad guys. There’s so much more to share, but just let it suffice to say this movie is going to be a huge hit. HUGE. It’s THAT good!
Watch the FROZEN Trailer
OH!! And one more thing that should make you get to theaters to see FROZEN: the Mickey short that will be shown before the movie, GET A HORSE!, will also knock your socks off. We got to see the entire short when we were in LA and I promise you, I’ve never seen anything like GET A HORSE! I’m not allowed to tell you WHAT makes it so incredible, but I’m telling you, I could have just seen the short and been fine with the price of admission to the theater because of the amazing things Disney animators accomplished in this clip. We hope that you are inspired by this Let it Go with Disney FROZEN post.
