With tax season in full swing now, I am all about getting organized for tax season. My office is a catch all place in my home where everything seems to end up.
So before I can even get organized for taxes, I have to get organized at home first.
To the side of this is my desk where I work and where my kids touch screen computer sits:
See my new X-Acto Pencil sharpener sitting there?
I bought that earlier in the day at Walmart:
To get organized for taxes, I create a file folder every year and put it in the kitchen right next to where I open the mail. Every single item that comes in the mail that is related to taxes goes into that file folder. This helps me get and stay organized plus have all of my tax information in one place.
Throughout the year, I stay organized by creating tax deduction files for each year. One for my husband, one for myself and one for our household. We then put receipts and any pertinent tax information in these folders all year long which reduces our tax preparation time considerably.
My office is virtually paperless. For years, I have been scanning important documents and keeping that information on our computers. On the shelves, is mostly stuff related to blogging and/or any projects that I may be working on right now.
