2013 Mercedes Benz GL Class SUV
2013 Mercedes Benz GL Class SUV I spent a few days driving the all-class, brand-new 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class SUV. The location was Santa Fe, New Mexico and the drive was dusty but the GL-Class...
The last time that the Chevy Blazer nameplate was offered, both the world and the vehicle were very different things. The headlines back then were dominated by the bird flu and Hurricane Katrina, and the Blazer was an SUV based on the old S-10 pickup chassis. My how times have changed. After more than ten years, Chevy has reintroduced the Blazer. Gone is the bland-looking SUV based on a pickup platform. The new 5-seat Blazer sports a bold look that turns heads. We hope that this First Look 2019 Chevy Blazer post inspires you.
This I know for a fact, because in the week that we drove the vehicle, I was stopped many times by strangers wanting a look at this new machine. Be it at the gas station or in a parking lot, the Blazer got attention. “What is that?” was a very common question, and when people found out it was the SUV Blazer, they were blown away. “That's a Chevy?” was a very common response; people just could not believe how good the Blazer looked in person. Now it's not a look for everyone. It's not conservative or boring; Chevrolet went big, and the Blazer looks aggressive. But enough about how it looks. Let's instead take a look at what's inside and how the thing drives.
The 2019 Chevrolet Blazer is a mid-size SUV that was revived by Chevrolet for the 2019 model year. It is a five-passenger SUV that is built on the same platform as the Cadillac XT5 and GMC Acadia. The Blazer is not intended for off-roading, but rather for on-road comfort and performance. The 2019 Blazer comes in four trim levels: L, 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT. The L comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 193 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque. The 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT come with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that makes 308 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.
2019 Chevy Blazer reviews were mixed reviews from critics. Some praised its stylish design, comfortable interior, and available features. Others criticized its lack of cargo space, its ride quality, and its infotainment system. The 2019 Chevrolet Blazer is a decent option for a mid-size SUV, but there are better options available in terms of cargo space, ride quality, and infotainment. It is a five-passenger SUV that is built on the same platform as the Cadillac XT5 and GMC Acadia. The Blazer is not intended for off-roading, but rather for on-road comfort and performance.
Chevy sent us the RS variant of the Blazer, meaning our review vehicle was pretty much maxed out in terms of options. The 2019 Chevy Blazer interior was wrapped in leather with red stitching that matched the exterior. Additionally, accent pieces like the air conditioning vents had a metal finish in that same color. I found the driver's seat quite comfortable and adjustable, and the controls were all easily accessible.
The vehicle had quite a bit of tech as well. Adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist with lane departure warnings, and rear cross-traffic alerts were all present. The rear cross-traffic alert was pretty cool, although it did freak me out the first time it went off. I was pulling out of a parking space and had no visibility as large trucks had parked on either side of the Blazer. As I backed out of the spot, a vehicle came speeding through the lot, moving from right to left behind us. I didn't see that car…It was not possible. But before I backed out into danger, alarms went off on the dash, and my seat gave me a surprise. These features and the 2019 Chevy Blazer interior is top-notch.
One of the ways that the Chevy Blazer alerts you to rear cross-traffic danger is with the use of vibrations in the seat. So as the speeding car approached from the left, the left rear side of my seat began to vibrate. I hit the brakes, and as the offending vehicle passed behind me, the vibrations followed….literally. As the car passed our rear, the vibrations moved to the center back of the driver's seat, and as the car continued to the right, the vibrations followed to the right. Pretty cool, but it did freak me out as I was not ready (and did not realize) that the Blazer would do this.
The 2019 Blazer comes with front-wheel drive as standard, with all-wheel drive available as an option. Fuel economy for the Blazer is 22 mpg combined for the V6 engine with front-wheel drive, and 20 mpg combined for the V6 engine with all-wheel drive. The four-cylinder engine gets 24 mpg combined with front-wheel drive.
The 2019 Blazer received mixed reviews from critics. In 2019 Chevy Blazer reviews, some praised its stylish design, comfortable interior, and available features. Others criticized its cramped cargo space, lack of off-road capability, and high price tag.
I have to say that I enjoyed driving the Blazer. Steering was responsive, and body roll was minimal. The 308 horsepower V6 engine in the RS was snappy, and the transmission smooth.
Our vehicle was equipped with multiple driving modes, from normal 2-wheel drive to an all-wheel sport mode. The field of vision for the driver is also expansive, especially when you turn on the rearview mirror. Yup, you read that right.
The rear-view mirror has two modes. Mode one is just like what you would find in any vehicle…it's a mirror. But flick a switch and the rearview mirror becomes a rearview screen, showing what is behind you via a camera. This was very helpful when I filled the back of the SUV with boxes, blocking the rear window view….you could still see!
Cargo space, while not class-leading, was a plentiful 30.5 cubic feet with the back row up. Stowing the rear seating more than doubles the cargo area. Additionally, Chevrolet also included an adjustable cargo management system that helps to keep things from sliding around.
The 2019 Blazer has a starting MSRP of $29,995 for the L trim level and goes up to $43,895 for the 3LT trim level. The 2019 Chevrolet Blazer is available in ten exterior colors:
Interior accessories:
Exterior accessories:
Performance accessories: These include air intake systems, exhaust systems, and suspension upgrades.
Appearance accessories: These include wheels, tires, and body kits.
These are just a few of the many accessories that are available for the 2019 Chevy Blazer. When choosing accessories for your 2019 Chevy Blazer, it is important to consider your needs and budget. It is also important to make sure that any aftermarket accessories you choose are compatible with your vehicle. You can find more information about Chevrolet accessories on the Chevrolet website or your local Chevrolet dealership and information about aftermarket accessories on a variety of online retailers.
The Blazer surprised me. I was not expecting such a sporty, stylish SUV from Chevrolet. If you are looking for a stylish and comfortable mid-size SUV with a variety of features, the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer is a good option to consider. This was a fun vehicle to drive, and it's at least worth a look and test drive if you are in the market for a new mid-sized SUV. If you are interested in learning more, you can check out the vehicle over at Chevrolet.
Chevy provided a new 2019 Blazer to drive for one week. We were not compensated in any other way, and all words and opinions are my own.
